    • Pickerington was settled in 1808.  The first plat of land was laid out by Abraham Pickering In 1815, and his name was given to the town in 1827. The city features an historic downtown shopping area.  Historic Olde Pickerington Village has unique retail shops, studios, restaurants, as well as professional offices.  The Village is surrounded by parks which provide a wide range of activities, including hiking, biking, skateboarding, tennis, soccer.  Summertime concerts, movies, a farmers’ market can also be enjoyed.  Nearby is the Pickerington Ponds Wildlife Refuge.  The school district has grown to fourteen modern facilities. Recently the Pickerington Local School District earned a Performance Index Score of 102.3 by the Ohio Department of Education.  Growth and prosperity has been continuous, changing the city from a village to a major city in Fairfield County, while retaining its original charm and beauty.  Fox Glen and Shawnee Crossing are just two of the housing choices in the area.  Approximately 25 minutes from downtown Columbus, Pickerington is situated near state route 256 and I-70.
